Benedetti Residency 28th February – 3rd March 2024
EA Music were delighted to work once again with The Benedetti Foundation.
As part of the second 5 day residency in Northern Ireland nine primary schools and three special schools across the western region received music workshops with Benedetti facilitators Lucy Drever & Calum Huggan. Over 1300 children participated in interactive workshops which focused on pitch, pulse and rhythm. Pupils and their teachers enjoyed fun and musical games as they were taken on a tuneful journey using voice and body percussion. Teachers noted how the music session, ‘covered every curriculum area, from STEM to literacy’ and how the children ‘loved their fun-filled percussion’ workshop!
As part of the residency local teachers were invited to a Continued Professional Development training session in Omagh Technology Centre. Over 30 teachers attended the workshop and were delighted to learn new skills and build on existing knowledge in an interactive and creative environment.
The residency concluded with over 150 children and young people from Junior, Intermediate, and Senior string ensembles. They enjoyed fantastic workshop sessions and performances with Music Service staff and the Foundation's tutors.
It was a real privilege to have such a wonderful team of musicians engage, inspire, and perform along with our pupils at such a high standard. We are so proud of them all!
On behalf of all the Music Service staff, thank you to the Benedetti Foundation for these inspirational sessions and to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for their continued support. Well done to all those who took part and we look forward to welcoming the Benedetti Foundation back in 2025.
