Rebuilt and Re-engaged
The exceptional decision not to charge for Music Service activities in 2020/21 was taken in light of the level of disruption to teaching and ensemble activities which continued throughout last year.
During previous periods of lockdown, we moved much of our service online using C2K secure platforms and the level of online engagement for both lesson delivery and with our external partners has been overwhelmingly positive.
The Music Service has rebuilt and re-engaged with schools and parents, with the aim of moving back into normal patterns of provision from September 2021 onwards, dependent on continued progress in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.
The contribution that music makes to the social and mental well-being of children and the wider school community is greatly recognised through participation in Music Service activities, and as schools reopen to larger numbers and cohorts of pupils, music will play an important part in helping children and young people to become more confident and resilient and help to foster a sense of belonging and community.
The Music Service appreciate that schools and families value the benefits of our provision and we would like to thank you for the ongoing support that we have received during these challenging times.
All School/EA buildings risk assessments & protocols will be reviewed in light of any new guidance (see Music Unlocked - Guidance for schools) and will be stringently adhered to by Music Service staff.
