Over the Benedetti Foundation's six-day residency, the team provided inspiring workshops working firstly with around 850 children in nine different schools, and then at two ‘String Days’, full of energy, creativity and music, led by Alex Laing and Joelle Broad. Eighty students from EA Music’s OBE programme and another seventy beginners (taught in schools by EA Music tutors) attended three separate sessions playing music specially written by Joelle but also including Elgar’s ‘Serenade for Strings’.
There were many positive comments after the Residency Sessions from parents and schools, including these:
• [my child] has only had ten violin lessons and to have the chance to participate and play with an orchestra today has really inspired her.
• [my child] had a fantastic time today at the workshop provided by the Benedetti Foundation and has learnt a lot from the tuition.
• thanks for the wonderful visit from the Benedetti Foundation last Friday. There was lots of interaction throughout which fully engaged the children. Our children (and teachers!) thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
