The Endangered Instruments of the Orchestra Project
To Bassoon & Beyond is part of a growing project delivered by the Education Authority Music Service and Ulster Orchestra, with 40 new musicians having taken up the bassoon during 2022-23, the largest number of new players for a long time!
Congratulations to all the new young bassoonists and to EA Music Service tutor, Krista Gallagher, and to Vahan Khourdoian and Greg Topping from the Ulster Orchestra. Also, a huge thank you to the schools and parents for supporting the students on their musical journey.
We are very proud of all these young musicians for their enthusiasm, hard work and the wonderful progress they have made. Well done on this achievement and we look forward to what the next year brings! A special thank you to the schools and parents that have supported the project, and to our partners at the Ulster Orchestra.
Darren Canmore, Interim Head of Music Service.
This is such a rewarding project and all at the orchestra are delighted at its success and now this recognition. Bravo to a great partnership!
