The South Ulster Celtic Ensemble was formed in 2006, to create a group that could explore and perform Traditional and Folk music from a variety of cultural backgrounds, with repertoire including instrumental and vocal pieces from the Irish Traditional, Ulster Scots & English Folk genres and beyond. The young musicians involved are senior students within the Southern Region Music Service, and are all members of orchestras, bands and ensembles, covering a broad representation of schools.

The South Ulster Celtic Ensemble performs regularly at EA events, in Music Service concerts and also performs in the wider community.
