The Derry Intermediate Wind Band is open to all pupils who play wind, brass, and percussion instruments in Post Primary Schools.

Membership is £48.40 per annum (family discounts apply) and weekly rehearsals take place after school on Wednesdays, 4.15pm-5.15pm in St Columb's College.

Repertoire is varied and challenging and from many different styles and genres; from well-known baroque and classical masterpieces right through to popular music from the stage and screen. There is also a dedicated focus on jazz repertoire for every programme, providing the opportunity for improvisation on a weekly basis.

The DIWB perform in three concerts per year; one around Christmas and again at the end of the Spring term in St Mary's College and Millennium Forum respectively, and as part of the Derry Jazz Festival each May Bank Holiday weekend.
